first_img1 Tottenham have made an approach for Argentine wonderkid Ezequiel Ponce – but could lose out to Roma in the race to sign him.The 17-year-old broke through into the Newell’s Old Boys first-team last season and already major European clubs are circling after he scored four goals in his 18 league outings since.And now club president Guillermo Lorente has revealed that Tottenham are one of them and that the north London club have already approached the player about a move.However, he has also hinted that Roma, who are also keeping tabs on his progress, currently represent a more likely destination for the precocious striker.Speaking to Ole, the Argentine daily newspaper, he said: “The family has received many informal offers and at present we are negotiating in agreement with his father.“The proposal from Roma could bring more advantages than Tottenham.“In Rome there is the possibility that Ezequiel could stay at Newell’s for another year while Tottenham only another six months.“In my opinion, both offers are valid but Rome is slightly better.” Newell’s Old Boys starlet Ezequiel Ponce last_img
