Earlier this month the company tapped Raymond Bianchi as group show director for agriculture events and farm shows, which includes Amarillo Farm and Ranch Show, the Northern Illinois Farm Show, Farmfest and Dakotafest. Bianchi was picked because of his global experience in the trade-show sector – he started his career with Miller Freeman and then went on to CMP Media in Brazil where he acted as the International Manager; in that role he launched conferences in Brazil, Mexico, Turkey and Hong Kong.In February, Cygnus eliminated the president position previously held by Martin as the final move in a seven-month process to install a new, flatter organizational “architecture.” In July 2010, Cygnus announced a new organization around four affinity groups: Aviation, Public Safety & Security, Building & Construction and Agriculture. Each was to be headed by an executive vice president who acts as a point person for Cygnus in their particular market, overseeing sales, content and market for their brands. Cygnus Business Media is on a hiring tear, naming three new executives in as many weeks. Today the company announced Scott Bieda will take over as vice president of sales, Fire/EMS/Security. Bieda most recently served as vice president of Custom Solutions at Penton Media. “Scott has a track record of building innovative sales programs that consistently reach decision-makers and infuentials utilizing traditional, digital and custom media,” says Mike Martin, executive vice president of safety. His background and creativity will help to develop added ways for our customers to reach our audiences.” Last week Cygnus named Ed Nichols will director of public safety events that include the Firehouse Expo, Firehouse World, Enforcement Expo and the EMSWorld Expo. Before coming to Cygnus Nichols was vice president of security events for Reed Exhibitions and was responsible for ISC West, where he managed sales, marketing and content development and was apart of the company’s brand expansion into Asia.
