first_imgThere is always a good mining display at Bauma (April 19-25 in Munich). Already International Mining has lined up for its special April article on Bauma Rema Tip Top’s new REMASTAR high-quality wear-protection material, Sandvik’s launch of the QI240 tracked impact crusher, Schopf’s new 10/12 t LHD, Rockmore’s new DTH hammer, Volvo’s new OptiShift for large wheel loaders (optimising fuel savings by up to 15%) and Caterpillar’s new 993K and 998H large wheel loaders. Bucyrus is focusing on longwall technology with a number of exhibits showing product innovation – and the debut of the latest evolution of its highly successful Electra range of shearers.Manufacturers that have not sent us their details of new products for Bauma should contact [email protected] will see the first outing on the world stage for the QI240 tracked impact crusher. This state-of-the-art machine has been developed over the last two years by Sandvik’s research and development program. It represents the union of Sandvik’s recently acquired mobile crusher expertise with Sandvik materials technology and manufacturing excellence. Purpose designed to process materials on site, the QI240 has been designed with mobility, productivity, transportability, minimal environmental impact and user friendliness at its core.In additon to the new large wheel loaders, Cat has the TH417 and a new quarry body for the 770 rigid-frame off-highway truck. Many more new products will be on display for the first time in Europe. In addition to the machines, the Caterpillar stand will feature a central area dedicated to practical, business driven innovations, technology and services designed to help customers’ success, lessen environmental impact and work more safely. Most importantly, the area incorporates information on Tier 4/Stage 3B solutions, the D7E electric drive track-type tractor, as well as connected worksite technology with next generation Product Link and new integrated Cat Grade Control. The area also presents the Caterpillar EcoDrive concept, simulators for several Cat products and consultancy for a quarry site assessment.Evolved from its predecessor, Bucyrus’s Electra 3000 Evo is a mature high-performance shearer with advanced automation and productivity features. The company says it is an “easy-maintenance shearer with further enhanced productivity.” The ranging arm has been re-engineered to make it more compact – increasing power density and minimising disruption of material flow on the AFC. The downdrive – which is also fully modular and easy to access for maintenance – has also been redesigned to reduce maintenance timeCost-effective operation and the reduction of unplanned downtime are goals of REMASTAR from Rema Tip Top. It is a lining material based on thermoplastic polyurethane (TPUR). “This material has features which provide numerous benefits for the user and represent a significant improvement on existing lining materials,” the company says.OptiShift is a refinement of Volvo’s APS driveline concept. It includes a new torque converter with lock up and free wheel stator, along with Volvo’s patented Reverse by Braking (RBB) function. OptiShift is a significant step forward in Volvo’s ongoing quest to dramatically reduce both fuel consumption and environmental impact while maintaining productivity, comfort and machine uptime.Schopf is pursuing the development of its underground loaders, implementing proven components such as the centre oscillation and the Z-linkage.Rockmore’s ROK 875 is a new patented 203 mm diameter class DTH hammer designed to increase drilling efficiency. It features an innovative new design which reduces the number of hammer components.Pelletising improves properties for transport, processing and handling of fine materials. The demands of iron ore producers in Brazil were the primary impetus that propelled Haver & Boecker to become more intensively involved in pelletising. Haver will premiere the new 7.5 m diameter pelletising plate at Bauma, which is adaptable to various operating conditions and has a capacity of 150 t/h.Eickhoff has been nominated in the machinery category for its SL750 EiControl PLUSTM at this year’s event. This technology enables total automation of the longwall operation, getting the operators out of harm’s way, whilst achieving productive results. For off road applications, ZF says its all-wheeldrive technology “guarantees perfect traction and is ideally suited to demanding tasks in tricky terrain.” The all-wheel-drive transfer case VG 2000 is reliable and characterised by optimal power distribution.Manufacturers using abrasion-resistant steel to build heavy machines are looking for light steel components offering longer life cycles and less replacement. With the need to reduce weight, demand for these special steels is increasing. Duferco Clabecq offers its Quard brand – a thin and wide steel with consistent workability, surface finish and flatness.Finnradiator, Umicore BrazeTec and the CuproBraze Alliance will demonstrate the CuproBraze technology and One-Shot Brazing. The Rulmeca Group will display its complete range of idlers/rollers and motorised pulleys, with special focus given to the widened range of thermoplastic rollers developed for stronger, but lighter, rollers with lower rotation resistance, lower noise levels and maximum resistance to abrasive and corrosive materials.More detail on these and other products will be published in International Mining’s Bauma in Mining Preview.
