first_img ESPN3 – ISU Live Stats – ISU Live Stats- Bradley ESPN3 – Bradley Match Notes Story Links PEORIA, Ill. – Following a weekend of back-to-back games at home, the Drake University volleyball team heads out of the Knapp Center and back on the road, where it is set to face off against the Bradley Braves followed by the Illinois State Redbirds.The first match, at Bradley, is set for Nov. 8 with a start time of 6 p.m., and the second the following day at 5 p.m. at Illinois State. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN 3.The Bulldogs suffered a pair of 3-1 defeats at home over the weekend against the Missouri State Bears (8-18, 5-7 MVC) on Nov. 1, followed by another 3-1 loss to the Southern Illinois Salukis (13-13, 5-7 MVC) the day after. Junior hitter Emily Plock (Altoona, Iowa) continued her success as the Bulldogs’ leading scorer finishing with 19 kills against the Bears and 27 against the Salukis, one shy of a career-high. Paige Aspinwall (Maple Grove, Minn.) recorded her third and fourth double-doubles in a row, with 10 digs and 26 assists against Missouri State, and 17 and 27 against Southern Illinois.The Bulldogs aim to use this weekend to begin a strong end of season push with the final spots in the upcoming MVC Tournament still up for grabs. The Redbirds (14-10, 7-5 MVC) beat the Bulldogs (9-17, 3-10 MVC) 3-0 earlier in the season at the Knapp Center. Junior Kaylee Martin currently leads Illinois State in scoring with 358 kills on the season. The team currently sits in fourth in conference standings.This will also mark Drake’s second meeting with the Braves (12-11, 8-4 MVC) in conference play after suffering 3-1 defeat in the first meeting, which featured a combined 243 digs. Drake has averaged 106.3 digs per match in its last four meetings with Bradley. The Braves, who currently sit third in the conference, just ahead of Illinois State, are led in scoring and digs by sophomore Hannah Thompson with 289 kills and 435 digs. Following the weekend away, the Bulldogs return home for three consecutive games against league-leading UNI, followed by Valparaiso, and Loyola to close out the regular season.Print Friendly Versionlast_img
